長崎の崇福寺で食べられたおはぎと善哉です。好きな和菓子の中、一番なのかな。こちらで食べたのはかなり美味しかったです。

This was a curry dish I had at the 地球人会館 near 石橋駅 in Nagasaki.  The place is a historical Western-style home that offers English lessons on the second floor and an eclectic menu of ethnic cuisine in the dining room on the first floor.  Today's menu was a dish originating from Sinagpore.  It was really tasty and, to my delight, completely vegetarian!  おすすめです！

There have been so many times I wish I could go pick up some おにぎりat the コンビニー during my typical daily life in the States.  These onigiri look even better than the convenience store variety though, and cheap too!

Zoka Coffee located in Greenlake in Seattle.  This coffee shop is always hopping both day and night.  The coffee is super good and, as you can tell, it's not easy to choose just one pastry!

A 'raw' Thanksgiving in 2007

So, I was on a raw food kick for awhile, and although i eventually had to go back to some of the foods I was missing the most, out of curiousity, I just had to attempt this 'raw' turkey recipe at my small 2007 Thanksgiving gathering.  The color is a bit unappetizing, but the taste...not bad.  My friend Katie was inspired to 'shape' the turkey.

I had the great fortune to live in a (studio) houseboat for several months during my second year of grad school in seattle.  Although it was was tiny, with the help of my fellow baking and cooking comrades, I was able to pull off a dinner party....complete with matcha cheesecake!
